Liberal Media Meeting in Taipei

I just arrived in Taipei with a small group of Filipino friends for a four-day event entitled “Political Communication in the Digital Age. A hands-on workshop on modern political communications tools“. The educative activity is co-sponsored by the Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats, the federation of liberal and democratic parties from the whole region, the Taiwanese Democratic Progressive Party or DPP and the liberal Foundation I work for. Bringing together communications experts from the political parties was an idea we first put in to practice four years ago in Manila. Today, this international event has become an institution for political communicators in Asian liberal parties.

On the flight to Taipei, I had a closer look at the resumes of the participants from eleven nations. Once more, we will have a lot of know how and expertise in the seminar room. I expect to do some talking about the strategic aspects of digital media usage. Helping out with the technical stuff - we intend to do blogs (that’s easy), podcasts (a little more difficult) and video blogs (a new area for me) - is my blogging Guru, Abe Olandres.

As part of the hands-on training, every participant will put up her own blog. Expect a lot of new Asian liberal sites popping up the next days here in Taipei. Last year’s workshop was help in Kuala Lumpur and co-hosted by our liberal Malaysian friends from the Gerakan Party.
